Positive Thought: ‘The World I Know’ by Collective Soul Analyzed

The thought provoking lyrics and perspective of the 1995 classic ‘The World I Know’ by Collective Soul is a great song/video to analyze. How I perceive this song is that it’s okay to question and feel deeply bothered with the state of our world,  but we should always try to not let this reflection prevent us from encouraging more positivity and good progression within our planet. I love this song and whenever I listen to it, the overall composition is compelling to me. I encourage all to never give up on our world…to never be comfortable or numb to the evil & unfortunate happenings that may be prevalent in our world. One of the many beautiful reasons why hope still lingers on is because this world also includes inhabitants/souls who are conscientious, good-hearted and genuinely care to implement/spread positive change. Therefor, let’s never feel as though this world is mainly full of only gloom and despair…because it is not. We all are each equally important & vital in implementing positive change, and there are people who still sincerely care for the pain/suffering others experience.  If we can’t seem to find many, then let’s be one of the light-filled souls we seek and desire. I also love how this video encourages people to never give up on life and that there is always inspiration/positivity we can grow from and contribute to.

Has our conscience shown?
Has the sweet breeze blown?
Has all the kindness gone?
Hope still lingers on
I drink myself of newfound pity
Sitting alone in New York City
And I don’t know why

Are we listening
Hymns of offering?
Have we eyes to see
That love is gathering?
All the words that I’ve been reading
Have now started the act of bleeding
Into one, into one

So I walk up on high
And I step to the edge
To see my world below
And I laugh at myself
While the tears roll down
‘Cause it’s the world I know
Oh it’s the world I know

I drink myself of newfound pity
Sitting alone in New York City
And I don’t know why, don’t know why

So I walk up on high
And I step to the edge
To see my world below
And I laugh at myself
While the tears roll down
‘Cause it’s the world I know
Oh it’s the world I know

So I walk up on high
And I step to the edge
To see my world below

And I laugh at myself
While the tears roll down
‘Cause it’s the world I know
Oh it’s the world I know

Never Again, huh?: When Genocide Keeps Reoccurring After The Holocaust

After The Holocaust, the United Nations General Assembly came together and passed the Genocide Convention. The agreement and idea was to prevent genocidal acts & punish criminals who slaughter victims because of an ethnic, religious, or national group they may belong to.  However, Post- World War 2 genocide events have continued to happen after the U.N and people all around the world vowed never again. There has been a reoccurrence of events where massive amounts of people have been deliberately killed from particular ethnic groups & nations and many of the perpetrators have never been convicted or punished for their crimes against humanity. What exactly is really qualified to be termed a genocide? The term ”ethnic cleansing” has been used to describe mass torture/murders like the crisis in Darfur instead of genocide, and Aleppo is one of many heart breaking situations where the term ”genocide” is fitting. We, humanity, have not effectively learned enough from the mass extermination during the Holocaust or any other similar atrocity evidently. The world is forced sooner or later to be aware of what is going on whether some of us try to ignore it or not. Those of us who are immensely sadden by what is happening continue to feel disgusted, impassioned, & mournful as we pay attention to all that is unfolding. What is happening in places like Aleppo is a repeated pattern that may not always be consistently televised or included heavily in the media. As sickening as it is, there are photos and footage of children, sweet innocent babies, that have been dismembered, bloodied, and attacked…images that actually need to be seen despite how horrible they are. Families displaced, bombed, tortured, whole lives shattered, and their crying pleas are gut wrenching and extremely painful to see & hear but should not be ignored or forgotten . There are politicians & country leaders that are also responsible for murdering countless people, just as contemptible as ‘warlords’ and terrorist groups like Isis. Yet, only certain types of war crimes, mass killings, and attacks towards groups of people are considered genocidal. However, no matter how we may try to relabel it or pick and choose just what is a genocide act, the truth is: The term Holocaust, which is also defined as the mass slaughter of people, is a evil part of humanity’s history that was supposed to never happen again in modern societies, but it has shamefully occurred over and over.

Positive, Beautiful Words: I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack

“I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack is such a beautiful and positive song. I truly hope that everyone in life has those people, treasured moments, music, and other inspirations that are beautiful, meaningful and priceless influences…speaks to our spirit & not just our flesh. “I Hope You Dance” was not just a popular hit song with a catchy tune, but it is the lyrics that makes this song so wonderful. The song mentions so many different things to ponder & remember. “I Hope You Dance” is an anthem that will always be one of my favorite songs and I’m pretty sure others have listened to this song and adored it as well.

                “I Hope You Dance”

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder,
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger,
May you never take one single breath for granted,
GOD forbid love ever leave you empty handed,
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

I hope you dance….I hope you dance.

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance,
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin’ might mean takin’ chances but they’re worth takin’,
Lovin’ might be a mistake but it’s worth makin’,
Don’t let some hell bent heart leave you bitter,
When you come close to sellin’ out reconsider,
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

I hope you dance….I hope you dance.
I hope you dance….I hope you dance.
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along,
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone.)

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

Dance….I hope you dance.
I hope you dance….I hope you dance.
I hope you dance….I hope you dance..
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone)

Pesticides Killing Bees: Why All Mankind Should Care

Albert Einstein once said, “If the Bee disappears from the surface of the Earth, man would have no more than four years to live.” If we take a look at all of the uses we rely on bee colonies for, then this statement could be true. Monsanto is a pesticide that is killing off bees, and these little insects are responsible for so much more than some people care to ponder on. For one, bees are responsible for pollinating 70 of the top 100 crop species, and these foods feed 90 percent of mankind. Without bees, most of the foods we eat would eventually disappear. Humans cannot replace or make up for the work that bees do, which also keeps other lifestock alive as well. If bees continue to be killed off by deadly pesticides, then so will most of the fruit, veggies, grains, and other nutrition we need to live. We tend to take Bees for granted, not realizing that these little tireless workers are blessings that are vital to our lives. The solution is actually simple: ban all deadly pesticides. If pesticides like Monsanto does this to bees, just imagine what they are doing to us. Some may even argue that all pesticides should be banned from our plants, including the so called “harmless” ones. All in all, hopefully it doesn’t take Bees to go extinct for people to finally understand just how valuable they are to mankind.

Inspirational Lyrics- Earth Wind & Fire’s Thats The Way of The World

In this song, they say that a child is born with a heart of gold, but the way of the world makes his heart so cold. Well, I encourage me & everyone else to not let the world change our heart of gold & stay good hearted & positive through it all. Earth Wind & Fire encourages this message in the song.  I love this beautiful song and I listen to this inspirational classic everyday.

By Earth, Wind & Fire

Hearts of fire creates love desire
Take you high and higher to the world you belong
Hearts of fire creates love desire
High and higher to your place on the throne

We come together on this special day
Sing our message loud and clear
Looking back, we’ve touched on sorrowful days,
Future pass, they disappear
You will find peace of mind
If you look way down in your heart and soul
Don’t hesitate ’cause the world seems cold
Stay young at heart, ’cause you’re never, never old

That’s the way of the world,
Plant your flower and you grow a pearl
Child is born with a heart of gold
Way of the world makes his heart so cold

Hearts of fire create love desire take you
High and higher to the world you belong
Hearts of fire love desire
High and higher, yeah yeah yeah
Hearts of fire love desire
Ahh higher

We come together on this special day
Sung our message loud and clear
Looking back, we’ve touched on sorrowful days,
Future disappears
You will find peace of mind
If you look way down in your heart and soul
Don’t hesitate ’cause the world seems cold
Stay young at heart, ’cause you’re never, never, never

That’s the way of the world,
Plant your flower and you grow a pearl
Child is born with a heart of gold
Way of the world makes his heart so cold

Hearts of fire, love desire
High and higher, yeah yeah
Hearts of fire, love desire

The Art Of Nature: Please Don’t Take It For Granted

9-28-12-sunrise-friscotx-option2

Whenever I am on the train or outside anywhere & there is a clear beautiful view of the sky, I take time to look at it in awe. I also observe how other people see it, and it amazes me how to some people…the sky is just the sky. The stars are just…the stars. Sometimes something ”extreme” or ”rare” has to happen for people to go out at night or take time doing the day & stare up into the sky. The sky has to be a bright peachy color, or it has to look green after it rains outside for some people to think, ”wow”. If Kanye West was walking down a street on a star lit night (I mean lots of beautiful stars everywhere in the sky)….which one would have to take the backseat to the other? We live in a celeb-obsessed society so I already know what would probably happen. A lot of people would look at Kanye West first and then when he leaves, that’s when they pay attention to the details above them. It doesn’t matter how beautiful our universe’s stars look that night, a lot of people would probably be focused more on the celebrity because we feel that stars in the sky are more common and “regular” than Kanye. We see nature every day, so some people just consider it apart of a ”routine” of things. Sometimes people have a lot on their minds, which we all do, and they don’t truly ”soak in” what our universe has to offer…free of charge. The only thing we have to own is clear vision ( I’m not just referring to physical eyes). So, I encourage people to not just look at the sky or stare into ”space” whenever something is heavy on their minds, but also genuinely look at these beautiful creations and let your mind explore what the universe has to offer…you may find a gateway to another ”world” that only certain people know about. Have a blessed & positive day!

WANTED: More Faith In Humanity

image

Sadly, I often hear people say things like “I give up on humanity”, “I don’t like people”, or “I hate people”. First of all, hate is a strong word, and not all people should be placed or viewed in such a negative way.  I have faith in humanity because I understand that there are good people in this world as well. If we try individually to be postive good beings,  then that can inspire others.  Thinking negatively about human kind will not help better our world or humanity because we have already decided to give up on each other.  Of course, as long as there are people…there will be negative beings who turn themselves into “bad” energy.  There will always be good cops & bad cops, good doctors and bad doctors,  and so forth.  Why? Because good and bad people walk this Earth and they have job professions  and some are in certain positions of power/authority. Instead of just deciding that humanity is doomed and wicked, how about we use our postive energy/mindsets to spread good and encourage postive change. I could never say that I hate or dislike people in general because one of my biggest pet peeves is generalizing people in one big box even though we all are individuals.  I appreciate and care about all of the good hearted people in the world and I understand that each individual is responsible for what they turn their souls into. I have faith in humanity because I see beauty in this world and I know there are people who do good deeds, but they may not ever get noticed.  So, I encourage whoever reads this to please don’t give up on all of humanity.  Don’t let the sick or evil deeds that go on in this world make you less positive because somewhere out there, good hearted people are doing/creating postive change. It may not be televised or awarded, but hopefully this will inspire us all to keep the faith.
